September Services is so proud of our founder, Jane, for her quote in a recent article! You can find the article in Park Cities News or just read below.
Those of us lucky enough to have our mothers around are likely to shower her with affection, attention, and maybe a pretty bouquet of spring flowers. However, as we get older, as much as we grow to love our mothers more and more we get wrapped up in our own lives. Some of us move away for jobs to support our own children, others simply cannot find the time to call or visit our aging parents each and every day.
Even if this is a realization that has come to you this Mother’s Day, there is no reason we cannot make everyday special for our aging parents. The truth is, they took care of us in our need, now we can help them find the safety and comfort they need in these golden years. There are options for both Mom and Dad that don’t involve the common of extremes. One extreme being the stresses and burdens of being solely responsible for your aging loved ones. The last thing they want is to feel like they are a burden to you. The other extreme is the nursing home.
Today, there are options that provide safety and comfort, while maintaining a level of independence that will allow your loved ones to flourish. Sometimes all Mom needs is someone to help her around the house or someone to drive her to the grocery store. Home Health Care services offer these solutions. They integrate a care plan around Mom’s lifestyle – not the other way around. Just knowing that Mom is safe and secure is enough to help you embrace the new dynamics that come with aging.
Jane Littlefield, President of September Services – a Dallas based Home Health Care Agency, reminds us that “there are many dynamics involved in caring for our aging parents. It creates a shift where parents become the children and children become the parents. This can be a stressful shift, but can be softened by working with a third party to help accommodate the increasing needs of an aging parent.” Agencies, such as September Services, have been working with families, as a care team, to make life a little easier for everyone. Make everyday Mother’s Day. This Mother’s Day, allow yourself to appreciate your Mother for all she is, was, or has been in your life.
