Once you determine what type of care is best for you and your loved one, make sure you do your homework in finding the right care agency. If you’re not sure what to do, we suggest the following.

1. Contact a local senior assistance agency to look into local community services

2. Look into free publications that list aging solutions agencies such as New Lifestyles and Senior Guide

3. Contact a minimum of 3 agencies for information about their services and insist on learning the answers to these questions:

  • Are employees contract or permanent?
  • Are employees screened meticulously?
  • Are employees bonded and insured?
  • Does the agency carry comprehensive liability and worker’s compensation insurance?
  • How many years has the agency been in business?
  • Can the agency provide continuity of care (same care givers..)?
  • Is the agency part of the Better Business Bureau and if so, do they have a satisfactory record?
