Breast Cancer Awareness Month Pink Ribbon
You may have noticed an influx of pink products everywhere. Pink ribbons, pink golf clubs, pink pens, pink everything. Heck, even Sports Illustrated turned it’s logo pink this month in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month’s 25th anniversary.
Pink may not be everyone’s favorite color, but the color pink represents the struggle and determination of anyone affected by breast cancer. From the patient him or herself to that person’s friends and family, breast cancer unfortunately has a great impact on far too many people. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year. An estimated 40,170 women are expected to die from the disease in 2009 alone. Today, there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.
There are many ways to support the initiatives out there to enhance the awareness of the problem and provide funding for researchers focused on a cure. Whether you donate money to a charity, purchase items that support the cause, or participate in an event dedicated to the cause, you can feel good about touching the lives of so many in such a positive way.
